I agree with Sue - Barone's illustrations are very useful indeed. Another
good example of relating muscles to bones is Smuts & Bezuidenhout 'Anatomy
of the Dromedary'. They also have, for example, nice diagrams showing the
articulations of the various carpal bones. Amongst the older works, one
that deserves mention is WH Flower's 'Introduction to the Osteology of the
Mammalia' (London, 1870), the illustrations for which were done by RW
Sherwin, Royal College of Surgeons. Flower is not heavily illustrated, but
the pics are finely drawn in a distinctly Victorian style. And few other
books include a diagram of the hyoid bone of the wombat (fig 68, p 214).
