Hello Anne
I would not include audio, lung function, HAVS etc due to the time involved
and also the extra cost.
Prescribing would also increase the cost and probably isn't going to be used to
any great degree by OHN's.
One module that would be useful would be advance health assessments, in
particular MSD, given the recent publications by the FOM. Constantly I see
staff with Upper Limb Disorders and to have advanced assessment skills is vital
and ensures they are supported and referred appropriately, and also that they
have minimal absence from work.
Risk assessment would also be ideal, as this is something I do a lot of, despite
there being other departments who do this (H&S) and so to have the
background to this key part of OH would be useful.
Finally is it worth mentioning CBT? I have been asked about undertaking some
form of training in this myself but have declined as it has no interest to me and
it's not something that I find I need in order to do my job. No doubt if I did
have some form of training/qualification the it would be used but it's not an
area I wish to commence or pursue. I guess my problem-solving nurse brain
doesn't want to change??
Best
Glenn
