Some weeks ago, Keith Russell posed some simple and seriously difficult
design questions about designing the shake out of coal trains that he walked
past on the way home from uni.
Some of tried to answer as best we could. On this first day of the New Year,
however, appeared a 'star' paper giving much greater insight.
(For those not interested in the more technical aspects of design, though,
please ignore!)
The paper is available (with some nice graphics) as a freebie at:
http://journals.pepublishing.com/content/56k13338642326nh/fulltext.pdf with
DOI: 10.1243/09544062JMES1688
A really interesting thing about the paper, in design research terms, is
how the authors bring together several design arenas considered to be
parochially distinct and show they are one - appropriate for the time of
year!
Best wishes,
Terry
