"the site" is the BN's Gallica
http://gallica.bnf.fr/
which has quite a bit of stuff, sometimes in really, really bad and illegible
scans (i.e., the books are there "en principe," which is all that really
counts, to a bureaucratic mind).
and, of course, incomplete sets are there (e.g., only three volumes of Gallia
christiana novissima).

yes, using Gallica isn't much like visiting a real library.
