Date: Friday 29th January 2010
Time: 09:45 - 16:45
Venue: MLA London, 4th Floor, 53-56 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DG
There will be a practical focus to this one day course with discussions and activities that will focus on why we evaluate and how it helps to demonstrate the impact that the museums, libraries and archives sector can have. The Generic Social Outcomes framework will be used to demonstrate the sector's contribution to developing community participation and social outcomes which is particularly valuable for communicating with partners and funders.
Participants will be asked to come with a current or proposed project that they are evaluating to discuss with others in an afternoon session.
By the end of the day delegates will:
· have explored the reasons why we evaluate projects
· have begun planning for effective evaluation
· have highlighted the wide range of methods that we can use to collect data
· understand what we hope gain from our evaluation
· know how we can analyse the results
· know how our results feed into future planning
· know how to use the Generic Social Outcomes to demonstrate the impact that museums, libraries and archives can have
Trainer: John Vincent, The Network; and Cathy Herman, Independent Consultant
Price: £110 (+VAT) per delegate; cost includes all course papers, refreshments, and lunch.
