Hi
We ask for 3 weeks notice of GOLA tests and produce a deadlines
calendar which we circulate to tutors so they know when the students
have to be entered if they want them to sit the exam in a particular
week. They do this by entering them on our MIS test entry system that
we use.
Our online invigilators set up the students computers, open the exams,
upload the results etc.
If we get charged for a resit, the student has to pay this before they
can re-take the exam. Others students don't get charged a resit fee.
We do, however, have a minimum time policy that the students have to
stay in the exam room before they are allowed to leave eg they have to
stay 40 minutes if the exam time is 60 minutes. This has stopped
students rushing their tests and improved results especially for the
hair & beauty students.

Dear All
I have been asked by our Senior Management to have an in depth look at
how we run our Gola on line testing and ways we can improve on it and
report back to them by next Tuesday. Could I please ask as many of you
as possible who run these tests to let me have an outline of how you run
them, main things I am looking at are:
How much notice you ask lecturers to give you when requesting a test
Who invigilates the tests
Are the tests in the students lesson time for that subject or at an
alternative time
Do you charge for all resits regardless of whether there is a cost
involved, for example our plumbers tests cost £17 each time but the
hairdressers incur no fee from C&G for resitting Gola tests
Do your students usually stay for the full duration of the test, or
like ours rush in and out in 10 minutes
What is pass rate like
How many times do you allow a student to take the tests, some of ours
end up sitting some tests 7 or 8 times.
I know that seems a lot of questions but any information I can gather
will be of great assistance.
Many Thanks
