Lecturer Positions in Interior Design Studies at Indiana University,
Bloomington
Join an engaging community of design practitioners and scholars in the
Indiana University Interior Design Studies Program. These three Lecturer
positions are based at Indiana University’s main campus in Bloomington
and offer an opportunity to join a vibrant and growing CIDA accredited
program. The program is housed in a recently renovated complex of studio
and support spaces. The program boasts state of the art technology and a
growing collection of classic furniture pieces.
Qualifications
The successful candidates will have at least one degree in interior
design, or a related design field. A Master’s degree in design is highly
desirable. Ideally, the candidate will have the relevant license for
their field, e.g. that of the National Council of Interior Design
Qualification (NCIDQ).
The successful candidates will have a portfolio of relevant design work
demonstrating creativity of design process, representation, and
presentation. In particular, the portfolio should demonstrate most of
the following skills: hand drafting and lettering; hand rendering;
physical model making; application of AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, and Revit;
proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign; familiarity
with web design tools such as DreamWeaver and Flash.
The successful candidates will be able to articulate a clear design
philosophy that meaningfully relates programmatic issues to aesthetic
considerations. Explicit evidence of a design process taken from
conception to execution would be ideal.
The successful candidates will ideally have a minimum of two years
teaching experience in a Council for Interior Design Accreditation
(CIDA) program.
The successful candidate will be a creative designer who can bring
examples of recent “real life” projects into the design studio for the
students. Having a defined aesthetic sense, especially concerning
concept and three-dimensional development, will be of great benefit.
The successful candidate will be comfortable team teaching in a
multidisciplinary setting with those from other design disciplines. The
successful candidate will be curious about and involved in the rapidly
changing nature of design and, in particular, in the convergence of
disciplines.
