medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
To me this is very interesting, as it indicates that a church was
situated precisely in regard to a localized desideratum, e.g.,
drawing attention, for the lifetime of the structure, to the patron's
feast, or to the actual date on which the eventual dedication would
take place. The latter underlines how important dedications were to
the medieval church -- not just for the actual day it was 'opened',
but for its anniversary.
