The Alaska Consortium of Zooarchaeology (ACZ) is sponsoring two
zooarchaeology sessions at the annual meeting of the Alaska
Anthropological Association in Anchorage, Alaska (March 25-27, 2010).
One session will focus on coastal cultures and the other on inland
sites. If you are interested in participating in one of these sessions,
the deadline for abstracts is January 30th. Please submit your abstract
to Linda Yarborough ([log in to unmask]) if you would like to
participate in the Inland Zooarchaeology session. If you would like to
submit an abstract for the Coastal Zooarchaeology session, please
contact Diane Hanson ([log in to unmask]).
Abstract forms and information about the conference can be found at
http://www.akzooarch.org/aaa2010.html
There will be a discussion at the end of the zooarchaeology sessions
about faunal remains and the curation crisis in the museums.
The ACZ will also have their annual workshop the day before the
conference (March 24, 2010). The topic is Pleistocene fauna and the
guest instructor is Dr. Greg McDonald, Senior Curator of Natural History
in the National Park Service's Park Museum Management Program. You can
find more information about the workshop at
