Dear All,
Having problems with VMware Server v2. Has anyone seen this or can advise?
VM Host is 64-bit SL5.3. Clients are 64-bit SL4.8.
1. Installed vmware server setting 904 for http & 905 for https.
Some experimenting - built some VMs, cloned them, all seems well.
Then rebooted host.
Ever since then, https://localhost:905 only errors, in
/var/log/vmware/h* logfile is
[2009-10-28 13:37:02.297 'Proxysvc' 1099225408 warning] SSL Handshake on
client connection failed: SSL Exception:140D9115:SSL
routines:SSL_GET_PREV_SESSION:session id context uninitialized
.......
[2009-11-06 17:05:30.972 'Proxysvc' 1094277440 warning] SSL Handshake on client connection failed: SSL Exception:
Obviously a cert prob but no idea where/how/why. VMWareSvr.v2 doc does not
even mention certificate. Can connect to http on VM Host but that's insecure.
Have moved root's entire .mozilla aside in case some cruft in there. No. Can
connect to https://<svr>:905 from MacOS firefox, not from IE on XP, & from
firefox on SL4.
But not on the VM host itself = red flag something seriously wrong.
Have tried many many things, no diff.
Hunted in vmware forum, some say completely uninstall vmware + reinstall
(might have to try that). Posted in vmware forum, only response = "same
problem here, no solution known."
Has anyone seen this & know how to fix?
2. Having installed vmware-tools & config'd it on a VM to "shut down guest",
then "Power off" (button on vmware gui console), or the host rebooting,
is supposed to "cleanly" shutdown the vm, so says the doc.
But it doesn't - just abrupt powercut. Not acceptable for LCG service nodes.
One can name scripts to be run when poweroff-vm-default is run, I've tried
"poweroff" - still doesn't work. In /etc/vmware-tools/tools.conf put
halt-command = "/sbin/poweroff"
Still doesn't work.
Hunted in vmware forum, haven't found any info yet.
Others are using VMware Server v2 ?
Does "Shut down host" do anything reasonable or just cut the power?
Grateful for advice!
