The Tenth Conference of the Centre for Advanced Welsh Music Studies
(Bangor University) will be held in Cardiff in partnership with St
Fagans: National History Museum from the evening of Thursday 12
November to Saturday 14 November 2009.
This year’s keynote speaker is Professor Gareth Williams (University
of Glamorgan), whose lecture on Friday afternoon is entitled ‘Last
Judgment in Treherbert – Revisiting the “Land of Song” c.1870–1920’.
There will also be a performance on Friday evening of the 2009
National Eisteddfod commission ‘Hadau’ (‘Seeds’), held in the
reconstructed medieval church of St Teilo <http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/teilo/
> at St Fagans. This work is a collaboration between artist Christine
Mills and composer Guto Puw (recipient of the BBC Radio 3 ‘Listeners
Award’ at the British Composer Awards in 2007).
