The latest issue of Chance News
http://chance.dartmouth.edu/chancewiki/index.php/Chance_News_57#Vampirical
mentions a word, vampirical, which should be of interest to many of you.
Vampirical (in contrast to empirical) is defined as a belief that is
"unable to be killed by mere evidence."
The Chance News article has a link to an unpublished paper by Andrew
Gelman and David Weakliem that describes several "vampirical" findings.
These authors credit Jeremy Freese with the original coining of the term.
