Greetings to all,
We recently had spuriously low Ortho Vitros 5600 TSH results from two premature neonates. These results did not fit the clinical picture and FT4 results were normal. TSH results by Roche Elecsys 2010 were also normal as shown below:
Pt 1: Ortho TSH 0.33 uIU/mL (0.46-4.68); Roche TSH 2.08 uIU/mL (0.27 - 4.2)
Pt 2: Ortho TSH 0.11 uIU/mL; Roche TSH 0.98 uIU/mL
Specimen indices OK; no biotin administered; no clues from chart or physicians; results reproducible on repeat draw.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
