Since no-one else has stepped in to do so, I should point out that there
is a standard mechanism - the Modes Web Server ("MWS") - for setting up
web sites which access MODES for Windows data files directly. The MWS
consists of a low-level CGI program which gives you querying and
retrieval facilities on your MODES data and returns XML, and an
XML-based page template which delivers the resulting content as HTML.
The MWS has been used by many museums to deliver their MODES data on the
web - see the MUA site for examples.
Since MODES for Windows isn't a multi-user database, setting up a web
server on a stand-alone machine, with a copy of your data files, is an
ideal way to do this. In any case, there is no need to export your data
from MODES in order to publish it on the web.
