Mobility International USA (MIUSA), a national nonprofit organization founded in 1981 and based in Eugene, Oregon USA, promotes the human rights of people with disabilities through international exchange and international development. MIUSA seeks a qualified Project Coordinator with excellent international development, project planning and logistics, writing and resource development skills to join the International Development and Disability (IDD) team. This position reports to the Project Manager and is based in Eugene, Oregon USA.

 

Since 1998, MIUSA has been changing the paradigm of international development by framing the inclusion of people with disabilities as a human rights issue. With funding from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), MIUSA serves as a bridge to promote inclusion and bring together disability and development organizations. MIUSA provides technical assistance, training and resources to disabled peoples' organizations (DPOs), USAID Missions and development agencies through the Building an Inclusive Development Community project.

 

Position Description

Responsibilities:

 

·        As assigned by Project Manager and in collaboration with the IDD team, plans, coordinates and implements international development and disability projects effectively.  These may include but are not limited to: 

 

Ø      Coordinate and/or design training curriculum

Ø      Coordinate and/or conduct technical assistance site visits and trainings 

Ø      Produce resource and training materials 

Ø      Write for internal or external publications 

Ø      Network, serve on committees and liaison with a variety of people regarding IDD projects

Ø      Develop and update website with inclusive development resources

Ø      Coordinate and/or conduct evaluation activities 

 

·        Travels nationally and internationally for project activities as needed

·        Writes or contributes to project reports as assigned

·        Researches and monitors inclusive development topics 

·        Develops and updates inclusive development resource center

·        Communicates effectively with project partners and consultants as needed

·        Coordinates a small grants program as a part of a larger IDD project

·        Coordinates or makes logistical arrangements for IDD related travel, workshops, meetings and activities

·        Contributes to development of funding proposals as requested 

·        Responds to general inquiry communications related to IDD programs 

·        Oversees and/or supervises interns as assigned

·        Exhibits or presents at conferences, meetings and trainings as requested

·        Attends general MIUSA office meetings, staff retreats, interdepartmental meetings and other meetings as requested

·        Meets regularly with the IDD Project Manager and other staff as needed

·        Tracks in-kind donations related to IDD projects 

·        Assists IDD Project Manager with other tasks as directed

·        Reports to IDD Project Manager

·        Takes initiative and is proactive in solving problems 

·        Maintains a helpful, positive and professional demeanor

·        Adheres to MIUSA's personnel policies and procedures stated in the policy manual

·        Manages workload, sets priorities and adheres to timelines

·        Promotes a positive image of MIUSA, its mission and services to people with and without disabilities

·        Maintains organized personal files

·        Works as part of a team in the MIUSA office

·        Submits and adheres to quarterly work-plans as requested

 

Qualifications:

 

·        BS or BA required; advanced degree in international development, disability studies or related field highly preferred 

  a.. Two to four years experience in international development, inclusion of people with disabilities in development, or related fields 
  b.. Personal and/or professional experience in the disabilities field, preferably with international experience 
·        Experience in project coordination and logistics planning

·        Experience analyzing and reviewing resources, utilizing research skills, and compiling results

  a.. Excellent presentation, speaking and training skills 
·        Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and copyediting skills

·        Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

·        Passion for empowering people with disabilities in international contexts 

  a.. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build relationships and foster networking 
·        Knowledge of one or more languages other than English preferred

  a.. Excellent computer skills, attention to detail and organizational systems; knowledge of web and desktop publishing preferred
