The Greatest Problem with Agenda for Change was the way in which many places
tried to fit existing jobs into the new Bands based on assumptions ...
The problem is the assumptions were things like " no Staff Nurse will get
band 6" which of course proves problematic when you have staff nurses
whose job description includes taking charge of the dept in the absence of
Sisters/ charge Nurses and who have the full range of 'add on skills' for
the ED such as IRMER referrer, Wound Closure, PGDs, plastering , direct
referral etc etcetc...
The same has tended to happen with NPs when trusts had made the assumption "
no one who isn't a budget holder will get band 7 unless they are doing
billable procedures (e.g. Endoscopies etc) "
