Is anyone else suffering significantly from the drain of ENPs out in to
community jobs?
Since the rebanding of pay our ENPs are on a Band 6 and have,
understandably, looked towards community jobs which are often paid
better or at least have less onerous hours. They are becoming practice
nurses or working for MIUs/WICs etc where they don't have to work
nights. We can't attract new ENPs for the same reason and by the time
we have trained up our own they are ready to move away again!
I suppose it reflects what has happened to the staff grade/specialty
doctor tier in recent times but it appears to put at threat plans to
manage EDs in the future, particularly the minors stream.
