world.
At the end of the session attendees will:
· Understand what European law says, or does not say, about electronic
content
· Identify exactly what is and what is not protected by copyright
· Be able to identify the different types of contracts and licenses that are
available
The workshop will also cover, among other areas,
· Use when rights have been waived
· How copyright can apply to websites and hyperlinks
· How copyright applies to external readers
· Technological aspects, including technical protection and management
technologies
Seminar Two: 13.30-16.30 (registration 13.15)
User-generated content - a copyright challenge
This workshop will look at the issues surrounding the creation of electronic
materials, especially by individuals. Different contexts will be explored including
Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), Managed Learning Environments (MLEs),
social networking and personal websites, Creative Commons and Open
Archives. The workshop will be of use to anyone involved in creating or
managing electronic materials, whether for educational purposes, commercial
exploitation or personal use in a range of sectors including academic,
commercial and public.
At the end of the session attendees will:
· Understand how Copyright law relates to user-generated electronic
content, including rights for authors and owners.
· Understand how to create Copyright compliant material on the web and
include material from third parties.
· Understand how to manage the use of other people's copyright
The seminar will also cover, among other topics, the rules for VLE/MLE in
