medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Christopher,
One such chapel, somewhere in northern France (I forget the name), that comes to mind
was mentioned (in order to ridicule it) by Erasmus in his book on pilgrimage to Canterbury
and Walsingham. Medieval people do not seem to have been particularly squeemish about
genitalia, even in churches, as we tend to assume normal from the opposite side of the
Reformation "guilt culture".
Cheers,
Jim
