I don't think so, but would have to look up a little more to be sure.
Basically, the "what you loose/hold bound came into play then as now. So the priest, technically could hold bound . . . again, I need to look up a few more
things but as you already know, this particular sacrament was in flux during the time in question. In some convents, the Abbess had the authority to hear
confessions and absolve.
Fascinating stuff.
