Dear list members,
I am searching for the title of a film I have seen several decades ago
at the age of ten. It is some kind of fantasy romantic comedy in which a
rich guy from the city falls in love with a girl from an idyllic small
town. As she is not ready to leave the town, the rich person transfers
the whole village to New York (or to any other big city, I am not so
sure about that). I remember some inhabitants of the small town sitting
on a bridge with heavy traffic trying to fish like they were used to be
fishing at a small pond in their hometown, but they are not very happy
about the situation.
I think the film was from the 50s, could have been a musical, I don't
remember that. I have never again ran over this film, but I am
interested in the interplay between the two spaces of small town and big
cities.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Herbert
