Dear Zooarchers,
I have a query about tooth anatomy terminology.
Is there a term used to describe the group of cusps making up half of an M1/M2
(or a third of an M3)? In a pig M1/2 this would combine the two anterior cusps
into one group, and then the 3 posterior cusps into another, making up two
sections corresponding with the two pairs of tooth roots.
Has the term 'column' ever been used for this? Is it appropriate to use 'lobe',
or should this only refer to the combination of no more than two cusps?
Thanks a lot
