Hi Keith,
That is attempting to keep the whole of the discussion in the realm of the
psych - in the realm of thinking.
I'm reminding that prior mechanisms and determining processes of human
action and creation are biological and outside thought. The biological
evidence on this is more reliable than Greek speculations and suggesting
that foundationally id and ego are only peripheral to discussions of
creativity.
Cheers,
terry

it all sounds wonderful - these thoughts before thoughts - but/and your
account is a thought experiment which then is a kind of speculative
phenomenology and about as useful as a blush on a 90 year-old woman's cheek
at indicating anything that one might then act on.
The idea that we have ideas before we have ideas is not at any deeper level
of ideas than any other idea. The experience of reflection, of becoming
aware of something in consciousness, is of a different order of thought, as
an experience, and it wants for no prior un-thought (pre-idea). The cogito
is an experience that is transformative like being told one is loved is
transformative. We enjoy these moments of consciousness and yes, perhaps we
treat them in a precious way, but within the history of the thinker, they
are nodal points.
