medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Monday's ODNB Life of the Day was Fiona Watson's joint biographies of
Gilbert de Umfraville, seventh earl of Angus (1244?-1307), baron, Robert
Umfraville, eighth earl of Angus (c.1277-1325), Gilbert Umfraville, ninth
earl of Angus (1309/10-1381) and Sir Thomas Umfraville (d. 1387). These
are chiefly of interest for the light they shed on Anglo-Scottish relations
but there are references to burials in Hexham Priory and Newminster Abbey.
