The supreme irony is that the NPG has always been very keen to properly
exploit the value of their image library. As a journalist I found them
helpful to provide press images for review, but for anything else you needed
to jump through lots of hoops to get pics for non-review use. And that was -
in my opinion - their perfectly natural perogative.
I don't know the history of this alleged 'image borrowing/hijacking' episode
but it seems provocative in the extreme. It was always likely to result in
legal action. The person/perpetrator involved must have been feeling very
lucky that day - I think it'll end in tears!
