With all due respect Miles I certainly do not think it is a take over. There has been a short period where individuals, academics and others that read the disability research information debated the relevance or not of research that did not reflect the voices of disabled people themselves. The whole point is that many disabled people belong or have a connection to helpful organisations.
There should also be some useful organisations that may not be in the field of research but may be able to offer contacts and help to researchers.
www.daa.org.uk has international links and could be a source of help and/or research these kind of questions.
