Speaking as a library user, I'd be very sorry if my own service
(Lambeth) adopted such a policy.
I find my library a hugely useful source of posters and leaflets
about local organisations & events, & 'what's on' info from theatres,
festivals, museums etc etc.
I don't want to copy out the info from a file of single leaflets, & I
don't want to download what are often quite big brochures.
I want to pick up some paper.
When Lambeth got the local youth to do a survey of the libraries they
specifically mentioned collections of leaflets as a big attraction.
I know library designers often decry librarians' keenness to clutter
up their nice clean lines with posters.
But I think they see this as a design problem they need to solve, not
sweep under the carpet.
