AERA 2010
Denver, April 30 to May 4, 2010
Ecological & Environmental Education Special Interest Group
Call for Submissions
Submission Deadline: July 15, 11:59 PM (Pacific Standard Time)
The theme of AERA’s 2010 Annual Meeting—“Understanding Complex
Ecologies in a Changing World”—is intended to encourage submissions
that address the conceptual, methodological, and practical challenges
and opportunities inherent in understanding how and what people learn
across time and space.
Opportunities to learn within and across both formal and informal
settings occur in the complex ecologies of peoples’ lives, not
isolated in a single setting such as a school or family. These complex
ecologies include people’s participation within and across multiple
settings, from families to peer and intergenerational social networks,
to schools and a variety of community organizations; and participation
within and across these settings may be either physical or virtual.
Indeed, the EEE SIG is especially interested in learning ecologies
that examine human relationships with local and global natural
environments.
This call also solicits an intensified focus on the quality of
environmental education research. We invite submissions on the
criteria for evaluating the rigor and utility of research on
ecological and environmental education. Additionally, we request
theoretically based submissions, as well as new examples of the best
practices in EE curriculum and pedagogy. Similarly, we are interested
in submissions that examine the relationships between EE education and
policy development.
For the full call for submissions, policies, and procedures for the
online submission process: http://aera.net/Default.aspx?id=7704
As a reminder, the number of sessions we are allocated is the result
of active membership (only $5) and the number of submissions we
receive. Please be sure to renew your membership in the EEE SIG. I
would be happy to discussion a possible submission with you.
Deadline for all submissions is July 15, 11:59 PM (Pacific Standard
Time)
Sincerely,
Carol Brandt
