The Geodynamics group within the Department of Earth Sciences at the
University of Maine, USA, seeks a PhD student to address problems related to
synorogenic rheological evolution in the middle and lower crust. The
project combines field, analytical (CL-EBSD-EPMA), and numerical modeling
approaches. Field areas are primarily the Grenville Province of southern
Ontario and the New England Appalachians.
Applicants should have a strong background in structural geology,
metamorphic petrology, and physics, as well as experience with analytical
instrumentation. Funding is available starting September 2009.
