I had a case exactly like this last year [CK was 760]. The GP blamed the
statin - but had not tested CK before he started the patient on it.
It was eventually decided this was 'normal for you'

Subject: CK increased in negroes
Dear All,
My understanding is that CK is raised in black people (vs. whites), due
to greater muscle mass... does anyone have info. on the magnitude of the
difference please?
We have a request for CK levels from a GP whose patient is black and on
statin. Patient's CK is around 800 (4 x top of ref. range) and has been
for the last year.
Many thanks
Helen Smith
