It seems that everyone's heard about Open Source Library Management Systems (OS LMS), such as Koha and Evergreen, but most of us don't really know how viable a solution they would be for a UK library. What are the benefits and disadvantages? How "fully featured" are they? What are the true costs of supporting "free" software?
As well as giving you an opportunity to find out more about Koha and Evergreen, this event will explore some of the wider issues surrounding Open Source software and non-traditional copyright licences.
This event will be useful for any library staff who are interested in learning about Open Source software or who want to find out more about the two main OS LMS products.
Further information, including the booking form and programme, is available on the CILIP UC&R web site: http://tinyurl.com/cyyoen
