medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear colleagues,
Would anyone have under hand a microfilm of the Occulus sacerdotis of
William of Pagula? I need anything William says under the title De vita
et honestate clericorum about the street dress of clergy. I particularly
need to know if he restates the prohibitions of the Fourth Lateran Council
on the wearing of red and green, also of wearing immodest cuts of clothing
and excessive ornaments. A copy of the relevant page would be
particularly welcome.
The Pupilla occuli has such a discussion. I accessed it via Early English
Books Online. Unfortunately, the Occulus is not in the database.
