I imagine that writing would have been a very difficult concept to
understand for the first humans capable of speech.
Speech is possible with only the human body. It gave the ability to share
learning (there is a tiger on the trail) Writing required some simple tools,
clay and scribe. It introduced the ability to capture speech and release the
communication over time. Perhaps the internet could be the tool that
facilitates a 3rd phase of development of human communication more
significant than writing. It's physical expression now difficult to
comprehend even if it was known with the ability to add another dimension to
communication.
