Biochemical Genetics
Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology
Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust
Principal Clinical Scientist
Band 8a, £37,106 - £44,527 pa, 37.5 hours per week, full time
We want to recruit an experienced clinical scientist to take the lead
in implementing a Downs antenatal screening programme. The laboratory
already performs the biochemical tests and is equipped with two Perkin
Elmer AutoDELFIAs. The Risk calculation and reporting is currently
performed by an external agency. The antenatal laboratory is a part of
Biochemical Genetics which also comprises Regional services for neonatal
screening and metabolic testing. You would be expected to develop an
interest in other aspects of this service and contribute to research and
development.
Experience in antenatal screening and/or biochemical genetics will be
an advantage.
You will also be expected to have some responsibility in the routine
clinical biochemistry department and would be included in the routine
duty officer rota.
You must be clinical scientist registered with the health professions
council. You will have passed part one the Royal College of Pathologists
Fellowship examinations and will be given the facility and every
encouragement to complete part two.
Leeds is an exciting city to live in and has ready access to two
National Parks.
