From POV of problem solving and decision making, the only diff I can
think of is the specifics of the problems and decisions - i.e. domain
knowledge. The general methods/processes/techniques are the same in
both. In practise, I have found that methods in one kind of engineering
design are different from those in other kinds of engineering design,
but that this is more a matter of different disciplines using different
subsets of what I think of as the full complement of methods. I don't
know why practitioners in some disciplines prefer one method over
another. Sometimes it's because they don't know the other methods
exist, other times.....
