Lecturer in Astronomy

A full-time permanent Lectureship is available. The post is integral to
the SEPNet (http://www.sepnet.ac.uk) regional alliance of universities.
SEPNet Astrophysics involves Kent, Oxford, Portsmouth, QMUL,
Southampton, and Sussex.
Applicants must have an excellent record of research achievement and
expertise in an area complementing or enhancing the core activities of
the Astronomy Unit. They will be expected to establish good
collaborative working relationships with other members of SEPNet.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate commitment to high quality
undergraduate teaching in the School of Mathematical Sciences SMS), and
to graduate-level Astrophysics teaching.
The Astronomy Unit http://www.maths.qmul.ac.uk/astronomy is one of four
subject groupings within SMS with 14 permanent academic staff, 11
postdocs and 18 PhD students. It concentrates on cosmology &
gravitation, formation & atmospheres of exo-planets, solar system
dynamics, solar & stellar physics, space & astrophysical plasmas and
survey astronomy with emphasis on analytical solutions, numerical
simulations and observational surveys. Computing facilities include a

Salary in range GBP 37,332 - GPB 41,654 pa depending on qualifications and
experience.
