African Diasporic Differences
Description: When an African writer lives outside of Africa does the
literary product change? If so, what are the causes of such change?
Targeted audience? Targeted publisher? Issues of language and cultural
taste? This session seeks papers that will focus on the literary
production of new African writers who live and write outside of
Africa. Literary attributes to consider might include any of the
following and more: language, characterization, setting, thematic
content, voicing and perspective. Papers should seek to address the
question of why differences exist and to analyze the differences.
Send 250-word proposals for 15-20 minute presentations to Dr. Walter Collins
