Thank you to those of you who have replied so far to my query about letting
members of the public plug their laptops in to library electric sockets.
So far I have had 17 replies (plus have found information on 3 library authority
websites)
7 authorities said that they allow it but customers must use either designated
sockets with built-in surge protection or they supply them with a RCD adapter
to use.
3 authorities only allow it if customers have a valid PAT test certificate/sticker
6 authorities allow users without restrictions (but they have not mentioned if
their sockets are automatically surge protected).
4 authorities do not allow it at all
There is also one authority that charges users for using the sockets.
It looks like we shall be going down the RCD adapter route.
Thank you again for your responses
