Any more ex Stoke Newington staff out there?
I'm glad to report that an analysis of levels of pay across London for
front line staff that I conducted a couple of years back revealed that
Hackney pays best!

I too worked in Stoke Newington Library, in fact I worked for Hackney
Libraries
for 11 years. During these years, as a union activist, I fought, along
with other
colleagues to have proper, safe staffing levels and a 'work to your
grade'
policy were staff weren't exploited and asked to do work they weren't
paid for
or to do work to cover vacant grades.
I'm sorry if some library managers don't agree or don't see these issues
as
relevant or important, but I feel that these basic workers rights have
been
eroded over the last few years and have contributed to the running down
of
the service.
