We are currently reviewing our Housebound Library service in liaison with the WRVS. We have a couple of queries on which we would welcome comments from other library services.
Application for membership :
* At present those individuals wishing to receive a library service at home are required to have their application countersigned by a health professional or social worker. For those services who do not require evidence of eligibility, have there been any significant issues in ensuring that the service is reaching the right people?
* Has another library service recently changed its application process so that an application for a housebound service is accepted at face value? Has there been any noticeable impact on take-up?
Identifying new customers:
* We appear to be reasonably successful in recruiting volunteers to deliver a housebound service but less successful in recruiting new customers. What works for you? How have you set about raising people's awareness of the service?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Sue Crowley
