Branch & Mobile Libraries Group
Mobilemeet – Saturday 9^th May 2009
Thurston Community College
Norton Road, Thurston, Bury St Edmunds Suffolk IP31 3PB
The venue for this year’s Mobilemeet is Thurston Community College, in
rural Suffolk just outside the beautiful historic town of Bury St
Edmunds, where there are a wide range of hotels for overnight
accommodation. The College is a few minutes from the A14 with easy
access from the A1, M11 and A12.
Our theme for this year is Community Engagement, a vital priority for
libraries needing to demonstrate that the communities they serve are
able to contribute to and influence what they get from their library
service. To do this we need to Reach the People and that is where the
strength of the mobile library lies.
As always, the mobilemeet offers excellent value for money, staff
training and a unique opportunity to view first hand the latest in
library technology and service development in a working environment.
Speakers will give a UK and Australian perspective on the skills
required to engage with all community members.
And of course this is an opportunity for you to show off your brand new
mobile library or celebrate the valuable work your mobiles and staff do
in reaching the people by taking the library to their door.
