I think contact is crucial as is going to Grand Rounds etc. Clinical
Biochemistry is but one part of the diagnostic and management process
which needs to be an all inclusive process. Stay in your whole world and
your value is greatly diminished.

Subject: Trainees' experience of other disciplines within LM
Just been doing some SpR appraisals*.
How many of your medical and clinical scientist trainees have
experience of other disciplines of LM and frequent contact with
trainees in those disciplines? How important is it that they should?
I think it's highly desirable for
... people who end up as Clinical Directors
... all of them to be ahead of the game as we remerge the specimen-
processing of the separate disciplines
Thanks
Jonathan
* Of course the appraisers had all done multidisciplinary MRCPath!
