Hi everyone,
can someone give me a hand with this?
These bones (to be seen on http://www.alexandriaarchive.org/icaz/icazForum/viewtopic.php?p=1271#1271) were excavated at a coastal site at Yucatan, and I strongly suspect that they belong to the extinct tropical monk seal Monachus tropicalis, on the base of manuals, as we don't have this species in our collection. Does anyone have access to comparative material of this species (or any of the members of the Monachus genus) and can thus tell with more detail if that's correct? Any images of femora and humeri of Monachus' comparative material would be greatly appreciated.
THanks in advance,
Chris Götz
