KING’S COLLEGE LONDON
Division of Health and Social Care Research

The Division of Health and Social Care Research comprises 50 Principal
Investigators working in the Evaluation, Health Services and Policy Research
Group as part of an Academic Health Sciences Centre. The Research Group
reflects the disciplinary richness of the College as a whole, in spanning an
exceptional academic range (from clinical strengths in primary care, public
health, nursing and midwifery, to disciplinary expertise in management, health
policy, gerontology, social work and social studies of science).
We currently have a number of exciting opportunities and seek applications
from suitably qualified and experienced candidates who are keen to build on
our research strengths and contribute to the development and future success
of our Research group. The posts are linked to The NIHR Comprehensive
Biomedical Research Centre which is a partnership between Guy's and St
Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London (BRC) to the NIHR
London Research Design Service (RDS) which will provide NHS and academic
researchers with advice on how to undertake studies to answer clinical,
organisational or public health questions. The posts will support clinical
researchers at King's College Hospital campus. All of the posts involve a
teaching and training commitment, including contributing to the undergraduate
work of the Division and to the Masters courses in Public Health and Primary
Health Care and training in the BRC. It is envisaged you, in conjunction with
the other statisticians in the Division of Health and Social Care Research and
other statisticians in the College, will develop innovative ways of delivering a
consultancy service to researchers and students and that this service will
become income generating through grants to increase biostatistical capacity
It is envisaged that up to 50% of a full-time postholder's time will be spent in
consultations and related statistical work within the Trusts and the remainder
in developing a programme of research in the fields of innovative clinical trial
design - particularly early phase, translational studies - large data set
analyses, or complex interventions in areas of the themes of the Biomedical
Research Centre and Research Design Service. Full collaboration with Trust
and College researchers in the design of studies, analysis of data and writing
up will be encouraged. Where a time commitment beyond that funded is
involved it is expected that support for statistical time will be written into
grant applications. You will be integral to the development of a joint NHS/KCL
and Clinical Research Facility Clinical Trials Unit.
This is a full-time post available for three years. Salary will be on grade 7:
£39,974 to £47,253 inclusive of London Weighting Allowance per annum.
For an application pack and further details please visit at: www.kcl.ac.uk/jobs

2/09-NY on all correspondence Information on the Division can be found at:

Closing date is 14 April 2009. Interviews are planned for week commencing 27
April 2009.
