It is almost impossible to imagine that sort of heat in Melbourne. Such
heat here would be expected and I had forgotten the silence that comes
with extreme heat. I have come across birds lying on the ground,
feathers fluffed out, wings spread, beaks open staring at the sky. But
here it gets cooler on average and humid which is not normal for a semi
arid climate.
We get the usual health warnings to stay indoors, remain as inactive as
possible and drink plenty of water. Heat stroke is one of my least
desired experiences given the severe headaches and nausea. But bringing
a large city like Melbourne to this sort of halt, well, different? I
trust you managed to avoid heatstroke.
