The School of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Design area. Areas of research interest in Mechanical Engineering Design include, but are not limited to research addressing conceptual design, design theory and methodology, science of innovation, as well as design for sustainability. The candidate is expected to advance our undergraduate and graduate design curricula and strengthen our interdisciplinary educational offerings. Faculty candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; have a distinguished academic record, exceptional potential for world-class research, and a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education. The position is at the Assistant Professor level, however, exceptional candidates at the Associate rank will receive serious consideration.

Established in 1882, the School of Mechanical Engineering is the oldest of Purdue's engineering schools and has granted over 26,000 degrees. Through its past two centuries, the School has become synonymous with innovation and outstanding accomplishment in engineering research and education. In addition to supporting faculty expansion the School's fund raising has enabled: growth in endowed professorships, with 18 now committed; the $34.5M Roger B.
