medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
In Sweden we had for example Hindermäss (Henry's Mass), Pålmäss (Paul's
Mass), and Siffermäss (Siegfried's Mass). The most important saints' days
were called like that. Often they were celebrated in a certain bishop's town
(diocesan centre) with a market.
