Hi all,
We let people join on line and then post the cards to them. Anyone can
join Dudley Libraries-we encourage people who live, work or study in
Dudley Borough to join. We no longer require ID to join-people may take
out 3 items on joining without ID and they get their library ticket sent
to them in the post, they then can take the full entitlement. Of course
if people have ID with them they can take their ticket then and there.

Subject: Online, immediate customer joining
Hello Everyone
Although here at Bradford Libraries we enable prospective customers to
join
online, we still require them to come into the library with ID before
they can
use their library ticket.
We are continuing to add to our basket of electronic products, many of
which
can be accessed remotely by library ticket.
I am conscious that if a potential customer navigates to our electronic
resources page they will want to use asap and if there is the delay of
even a
day or so in being able to access them they may not bother...... Also,
linking in with a local regeneration partner who has asked us to provide
immediate registration online I need to find out what other authorities
are
doing.
So, is there anyone out there who basically enables customers to join
online
immediately, how have you done it and how do you validate the customer
as
being within your catchment area.
Any comment welcome
Many thanks
Christine Dyson
