Hello all
I wonder if someone would be able to help me with a rather technical query.
Here in Inverclyde Libraries we currently use Netloan as our public PC booking
system. When users log on using their LMS barcode/pin they get onto the PCs
which are locked down via Group Policy.
The users get a generic desktop depending on if they are Junior, Teenage,
Adult/Senior. We also have a group policy for Dolphin Supernova users and
classes. The group policy also defines what web filtering the users get.
Users currently cannot get access to the Control Panel - and we would like to
keep it that way.
A local disability group have enquired about logons that would allow different
font sizes/types and different coloured window bars etc - basically the stuff
you can alter in Windows themes. We asked our IT dept about creating
logons for these individuals through active directory and were told that these
settings are controlled on the PC and not the logon as such.
I am wondering how other public libraries support users with additional needs.
Do you use solutions such as Deepfreeze and let people into the control panel?
Does anyone know if there is a way in Active Directory/Group Policy that this
can be done - particularly in a Netloan environment?
I'd be grateful for any advice that other libraries can provide on steps they
have taken to ensure their public PCs are DDA-compliant.
Many thanks in advance.
