Dear Colleagues,
Registration is now open for the workshop on Graphical Models and Genetic
Applications - April 15-17, 2009 - University of Warwick

s
The Workshop on Graphical Models and Genetic Applications will run from
lunchtime Wednesday 15th April '09 to Friday 17th April '09. The hope is that
the juxtaposition of several different fields covered by the talks will trigger
various synergies between participants. The Workshop will begin with
presentations about the construction and estimation of pedigrees and
phylogenetic trees. The talks then move to the study of the use of graphical
models in genetic identification problems and causal inference including using
Mendelian randomization, gene mapping and dynamic graphs. The construction
of new types of graphical models and their selection, estimation and potential
areas of application will also be studied as well as various computational
issues.
Confirmed presenters will include:
Robert Cowell, James Cussens, Vanessa Didelez, Thore Egeland, Dan Geiger,
Sara Geniletti, Simon Heath, Joten Hein, Steffen Lauritzen, Roberto Puch-Solis,
Thomas Richardson, Nuala Sheehen, Oivind Skare, Jim Smith and David Wilde.
This workshop is one of a series of CRiSM Workshops at Warwick University on
new, exciting fast developing areas of statistical inference. These are
designed to bring young researchers into contact and to interact with
internationally well known academics working in the specific areas of the
workshop. Financial support both for travel and accommodation at the
university is available to interested young academics, PhD students, Post
Doctoral Fellows and young Lecturers. Places are necessarily limited so please
book early to avoid disappointment. Young academics are encouraged to
present posters on the first evening of the workshop, helping them to
introduce themselves to other participants. There will be a prize for the best
poster.
To Participate:
Please complete the application form which can be found at the address
above. Please include a title and abstract of any poster you would like to
present.
Deadline: Thursday 5 March.
